Candidates should have clinical proficiency and Board Certification in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology. They should have a record of scholarly achievement and be eligible for the rank of Associate Professor or higher. The Director of the program will have administrative oversight and engage in its strategic development and growth. Accordingly, the candidate should have leadership skills and experience. The successful candidate will work primarily on the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy Service at DHMC and will have the option to attend 2-4 weeks per year at Tufts Medical Center, our partner transplant center. They will also play an essential role in the Cardiogenic Shock team, Pulmonary Hypertension Program, and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET) program. Additional responsibilities include an active role in the cardiac intensive care unit and inpatient services, outpatient medicine, teaching, and clinical research. The successful candidate will join an academic practice with approximately 40 full-time cardiologists, as well as clinical and research fellows.
The Heart and Vascular Center has a robust research portfolio focused on clinical and population health supported by funding from the NIH/NHLBI, the American Heart Association, and other foundations, and is engaged in numerous clinical trials. The research program is supported by expert mentors, training programs, and dedicated administrative, technical, and analytic resources. We have collaborative ties with the Geisel School of Medicine and the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI). Accordingly, the candidate is expected to engage in academic activities, including research and mentoring of learners, such as cardiovascular fellows, house staff, and students from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. This position holds an academic title at the Geisel School of Medicine commensurate with experience and academic portfolio. An adjunct appointment at Tufts Medical School is also available if the candidate chooses to attend on the cardiomyopathy/cardiac transplant service there.
