Albany Medical College seeks an individual to join our team as a full-time nocturnist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Albany Medical Center is the largest hospital in Northeast New York State and the largest employer in the Capital Region. The Medical Center is the primary teaching affiliate of Albany Medical College which has more than 500 students in its MD program. The perinatal referral region covers a wide catchment area including northeastern NY, western MA, and southern VT, and Albany Med is the only academic medical center in 150-mile radius.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a full-service tertiary care group that employs over 30 part-time and full-time physicians, 10 Midlevels, 2 full-time Genetic Counselors, plus supporting administrative and clinical staff along with 24 residents and 6 fellows. There are over 2,500 deliveries per year at AMC and our population is enriched with patients with complex maternal and fetal co-morbidities.

We seek candidates with diverse experience, dedication to teaching and research, and passion for the care of women and people capable of pregnancy. Candidates should possess outstanding clinical skills and have the ability to work independently and collaboratively with other health care providers and support staff.

The selected physician will provide inpatient general obstetrical and gynecological services including patient evaluation and management on labor and delivery and the ED. Comprehensive back up services for all OB/GYN subspecialties are available. Participation in the education and training of medical students and residents is anticipated. Anticipated schedule includes 3 inpatient night shifts per week with no outpatient duties.

Faculty rank appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Successful candidates should possess the following minimum qualifications:

  1. Applicants must possess an MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  2. Applicants must have successfully completed an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency training program.
  3. Applicants must be board certified or eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  4. Experience managing labor and delivery.

Guaranteed salary for full-time employment at $300,000 - $325,000 plus incentive plan. Compensation and rank as part of a non-for-profit faculty group of AMC is competitive and commensurate with experience.
