Gillette Children’s is searching for an adult physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician to serve teen and adult patients who have lifelong disabilities resulting from child-onset neurologic conditions, including but not limited to cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, genetic syndromes such as Rett Syndrome, childhood onset traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. The PM&R physicians at Gillette see patients regarding their physical medicine and rehabilitation/ functional needs in a highly accessible clinical setting equipped with lifts and clinic rooms sized and equipped appropriately for individuals with disabilities. Within a very accessible clinic, patients with disabilities can be seen for their needs in a way that primary care is typically unable to do so.
The PM&R physician focuses on the development of a comprehensive program to meet the patients’ needs which may include (but is not limited to) the following areas/systems:
This PM&R physician partners with patients’ primary care physicians (PCPs) in the community, who are not disability specialists, and relays information back to the PCP to address general medical needs and direct preventive care. This physician position works collaboratively with neuromuscular neurology providers, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and nurse practitioners who are experts in skin care, ITB pumps, bladder management, and bowel management. The PM&R provider also works with endocrinology, neuromuscular cardiology, and pulmonology services to address patient needs, as well as nursing, social work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, psychology, therapeutic recreation, assistive technology, seating services, and other specialist physicians. The physician prescribes needed equipment such as braces and wheelchairs.
Pay & Benefits Information:
The annual salary range for this opportunity is $242,213 to $358,855, with a median salary of $304,332. Pay is dependent on several factors including relevant work experience and internal equity. Salary is just one component of the compensation package for employees.
