Clinical Faculty - Full Time: Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Neuro-Rehabilitation Division — brain injury medicine or neurology

Position Description:

Washington University School of Medicine’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery — Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Neuro-Rehabilitation Division — seeks a full-time clinical faculty member in brain injury medicine or neurology to join our high-volume practice. This position reports to the division chief.

This position will assist in the growth and expansion of the neuro rehabilitation program, including the elevation of our fellowship training program to ACGME accreditation. We practice in a collaborative and multidisciplinary academic environment, with opportunities to build an academic career that
includes clinical care, teaching, research opportunities, and program development.

Responsibilities:

Clinical: Clinical responsibilities of this position include providing high-quality patient care primarily in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Besides moderate to severe traumatic brain injury, there is also the potential to participate in other rehabilitation services such as mild brain injury, cerebral palsy, and spasticity management.

Academic Instruction:

Academic responsibilities include active participation in, and commitment to, PM&R fellow, resident and medical student education, including:

Clinical training and teaching.
Participating in conferences, journal clubs and related activities.

Research:

The faculty member will conduct research (clinical, basic science, translational and/or biomechanics), working with researchers within the department and across Washington University School of Medicine. Our department has a long history of research contribution, with a focus on treatment strategies and outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

Applicants should have board certification/board eligibility in physiatry, with additional subspecialty board certification/ board eligibility brain injury medicine or neurology, and successful completion of residency training in an accredited PM&R program. Applicants should hold expertise in treating and managing brain injury, adult cerebral palsy, stroke, and a wide range of other neurological conditions.
