Psychiatry: Medical Director, Inpatient Psychiatry Services

Cleveland Clinic Akron General (CCAG) is seeking a full-time BC/BE General Adult Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric services and administrative oversight to a 50 plus bed inpatient adult psychiatric service line. Sub specialization though beneficial is not required.

Duties, in addition to direct clinical care, will include close collaboration with nursing and social work to maintain Joint Commission and CMS accreditation. Managing issues around unit safety and quality of care. Participation in administrative decisions and peer-review among other duties.

In addition to the inpatient psychiatric services the Department of Behavioral Sciences at CCAG provides a full scope of services including Consult Liaison Psychiatry to a 500 plus diverse and multidisciplinary medical surgical hospital with a level one trauma modern Emergency Department with psychiatric triage and social work support, Interventional Psychiatry with ECT and TMS, adult outpatient clinics with both psychology and psychiatry, Intensive outpatient services (IOP), Alcohol, Drug Rehabilitation Centers (ADRC), outpatient Geriatric clinics and a new Child Psychiatric clinic. We handle over 2000 inpatient admissions annually.

We support a fully matched new Psychiatric Residency Training Program with its inaugural class in July 2021, now moving into PGY3, with an eventual total membership of 16 places. We are a primary teaching site for Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUHCOM). We also support a one year post PhD Psychology Residency.

The department also participates in clinical and translational research and is supported by a comprehensive research department. Publishing is encouraged and supported.

Faculty appointment and participation in residency training is integral to the role of Inpatient Psychiatric Medical Director.

Position appointment is through Partners Physician Group (PPG). Appointment through Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute (CCF-NI) can be arranged as appropriate.

Night call and paid weekend unit and Consult Liaison coverage are typically part of the position.
