RWJBarnabas Health at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center seeks a Medical Director of the Mechanical Support Critical Care Unit at NBIMC. Our Medical Center is one of the nation’s largest heart transplant centers with the leading Advanced Heart Failure, Shock, and Mechanical Circulatory Support Programs in NJ, and a known destination for Structural, Complex Coronary, and Endovascular interventions. This is a great opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team and lead all aspects of cardiac critical care in a quaternary level cardiovascular center.
This position will be embedded within the Division of Cardiology. The ideal candidate will oversee the Mechanical Support Critical Care Unit at NBIMC as its Medical Director and will work with a team of critical care intensivists, cardiologists, critical care advanced practitioners, cardiology fellows and residents. The candidate will work to standardize the care of patients in the unit, setting programmatic goals and metrics for quality, safety, and efficiency, developing clinical protocols, and implementing standards of practice. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the multidisciplinary management of critical care patients, including pre and post heart transplant patients, those with temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices, and those with other conditions such as myocardial infarction, post-cardiac arrest, pulmonary embolism, and shock.
The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team that includes other Heart Failure and Transplant physicians, Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons, and Pulmonary and Critical Care Physicians. The candidate will have an academic track record and the desire and ability to educate and mentor students, residents, fellows, and staff, to implement quality improvement initiatives, and to participate in clinical research.
