The Department of Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine seeks a fellowship-trained hematologist interested in mainly classical hematology as well as medical education. Clinical responsibilities will include inpatient attending coverage on the hematology consult service that involves consultations in classical as well as malignant hematology and outpatient hematology clinics that will focus mainly on classical hematology as well as malignant hematology. The new faculty member should have an interest in translational research and/or clinical trials involving classical hematology. He/she will also participate in teaching programs involving fellows, residents, medical students, and physician assistant students. Candidates will benefit from mentorship from an experienced faculty within the Departments of Medicine, Pathology and Thrombosis Research and practice out of the flagship Temple University Hospital, a 746-bed quaternary care facility with robust clinical hematology and oncology programs adjacent to the Medical School. Applicants must be BE/BC in hematology, eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and possess academic credentials that qualify for a faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Faculty of the Section of Hematology are members of the Sol Sherry Research Center and Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital. The Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center has a vibrant and interdisciplinary research program focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms of thrombosis and hemostasis and developing new therapeutic strategies for blood diseases.
The Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University offers state-of-the-art outpatient care in benign and malignant hematologic disorders, medical oncology as well as infusion services. Radiation therapy, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology, nutrition services, bloodless medicine, palliative care services, and an active clinical trials research unit are available on-site. Transfusion medicine and apheresis services, hematopathology service and coagulation labs are also available on-site. The FACT-accredited Fox Chase-Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program is located off-site. Temple University Hospital is a site for active lung, heart, liver, and kidney transplant programs and a primary teaching site for the Temple University Hospital-Fox Chase Cancer Center Hematology/Oncology Fellowship program. Research opportunities are available within the Sol Sherry Thrombosis Research Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Fels Cancer Institute of Temple University.
