As a Market Medical Director at ChenMed, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare by directly guiding and supporting Clinical Directors across your assigned market. This is a dynamic position where you will be responsible for driving exceptional clinical outcomes, fostering growth, and cultivating a strong, collaborative culture within your centers.
Your leadership will empower the Clinical Directors you manage, helping them to deliver outstanding care to our patients. You’ll also have the opportunity to continue practicing as a Primary Care Physician (PCP), offering direct patient care and contributing to the success of our mission. With a focus on both clinical excellence and leadership development, you will balance your time between patient care, team mentorship, and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead with Impact: Oversee clinical outcomes and day-to-day management of Medical Directors across multiple centers. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Mentorship & Coaching: Guide and support Medical Directors and clinical staff to deliver exceptional patient care. Facilitate talent development, including shadowing, 1:1 coaching, and performance management.
Drive Growth & Culture: Ensure the successful clinical operations of your market. Build strong, positive relationships with the clinical team and drive the growth of the centers.
Recruitment & Retention: Work alongside Talent Acquisition to recruit and develop top-tier clinical talent, including PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors.
Community Engagement: Cultivate relationships with local payers, specialists, hospitals, and the broader community. Serve as an ambassador for the ChenMed mission.
Quality & Performance: Monitor and improve clinical performance and quality initiatives, working closely with the Regional President to support market-wide goals.
Patient Care: Spend a portion of your time providing direct patient care as a PCP, delivering high-quality clinical outcomes to your patient panel.
What We’re Looking For:
Clinical Expertise: MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or a similar specialty. Board certification required.
Leadership Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role such as Medical Director or equivalent, ideally with a Medicare or Medicaid patient population.
Passion for Teaching: Natural ability to mentor and guide fellow physicians, fostering growth and excellence across your team.
Experience in Population Health: Knowledge and experience in complex chronic disease care management and population risk management.
Team Player: A collaborative leader who thrives in working with interdisciplinary teams to drive quality and improve patient outcomes.
Proven Results: A track record of managing complex care or risk populations, with a focus on achieving outstanding clinical, customer service, and cost outcomes.
Additional Qualifications:
Board Certification: Preferred in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar specialty. Other sub-specialty board certifications may be considered.
Clinical Leadership Experience: Previous experience in a leadership position such as Medical Director or similar role, particularly in a managed care environment.
PCP Experience: Ideally, experience in delivering primary care services in a Medicare or Medicaid setting with a proven ability to manage a panel of 400+ patients.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: Ability to relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people, build strong relationships with external organizations, and engage with staff effectively.
Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using electronic medical records (EMR) and familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Travel: Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally up to 30% of the time.
Fluency: Spoken and written fluency in English.
