The MHIF Center for Coronary Artery Disease (https://mplsheart.org/center-for-coronary-artery-disease/) provides cutting edge research and education in the treatment of coronary artery disease. The Center published the third edition of the “Manual of Coronary Chronic Total Occlusion Interventions: a Step by Step Approach” in 2023 and the “Manual of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention” in 2020 and created the www.ctomanual.org and http://www.pcimanual.org websites with >500 training videos on complex PCI and >3.5 million views to date. During 2023 the Center continued to expand the Progress-CTO registry (http://www.ctomanual.org/), the Progress-Bifurcation (https://www.progressbifurcation.org/) and Progress-Complications registries, published >100 peer reviewed manuscripts, 8 book chapters and 18 editorials and presented at >40 meetings around the world.Key Position Details:
The Training Program in Complex Percutaneous Coronary Interventions and Interventional Cardiology Research Fellowship at the Minneapolis Heart Institute in partnership with the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) is a 12 month program designed to train interventional cardiologists in complex percutaneous coronary interventions and associated clinical research.
The program is designed as an advanced fellowship position for trainees who have completed a formal three-year general cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship. Fellows will participate in the entire spectrum of complex coronary interventions, including chronic total occlusion (CTO) interventions, advanced intravascular imaging and physiology, bifurcation PCI, thrombus management, treatment of acute coronary syndromes, calcification and tortuosity, hemodynamic support and treatment of cardiogenic shock, complication prevention and management, radiation safety. Moreover, they will participate in research in complex percutaneous coronary interventions and coronary artery disease.
Work Schedule:
This is a paid fellowship for a 1 year term starting July 1, 2025. It includes training in advanced interventional procedures, call and clinic. The position is 50% clinical and 50% research.
