Pediatric/Adult Sleep Specialist - Neurology

The Department of Neurology at University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Sleep Medicine physician to join our growing and progressive Sleep Division. This position will be appointed as a Clinical (non-Tenure) Track faculty member at any rank, depending on qualifications and experience. The division serves both adult and pediatric patients, providing comprehensive, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as across a variety of unique subspecialty practice settings within our healthcare system.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree, and eligibility for an unrestricted Iowa medical license
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Sleep Medicine
  • Commitment to patient care, teaching, and scholarly professional activities
  • Experience in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience promoting an inclusive culture in the workforce and academic environment

Position Details:

  • Appointments: Non-tenure clinical track, open rank
  • Full-time equivalent (FTE): 1.0 FTE
    • 80% clinical (including teaching and patient care within the Department of Neurology)
    • 20% academic/administrative time
  • Clinical work will involve weekday, weekend, and holiday coverage of inpatient and consult services, with close collaboration with the faculty to align the candidate’s time with their preferred areas of interest.

About the Department of Neurology:

The Department of Neurology is home to over 40 full-time faculty members providing local, national, and international leadership in areas such as Cognitive Neurology, Cerebrovascular Disease, Clinical Electrophysiology, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuroimmunology/MS, Neuromuscular Disease, Neuropsychology, and Sleep Disorders. The department has a long-standing tradition of excellence in research, supported by a well-developed infrastructure and a diverse patient population.
