Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Faculty

The Children’s Mercy Kansas City Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine is seeking a fellowship-trained, BC/BE Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine specialist to join the faculty. The duties of this full-time position are primarily as an academic clinician educator and/or clinician-researcher.

The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine (AYAMed) includes 6 adolescent and young adult medicine trained specialist faculty, 1 faculty pediatrician with eating disorder expertise, up to 3 fellows, 2 eating disorder nurse practitioners, a clinical pharmacogenomics PhD researcher/nurse practitioner, Title X Director/nurse practitioner, social workers, staff nurses, care assistants, and clinical research coordinators.

This team provides outpatient care at 4 Children’s Mercy clinic locations in metro Kansas City, as well as Synergy Services, for unhoused youth. Each core AYAMed clinic is part of a robust Title X program supporting comprehensive reproductive health care services. Providers work alongside colleagues in several multidisciplinary specialty clinics providing care to adolescents and young adult (AYA) patients typically to age 22 years of age. These clinics include: Eating Disorders Center, Gender Pathways Services, Medical Adolescent PCOS Program, and Complex Syncope Clinic among others.

Inpatient consultations are provided at 2 Kansas City area Children’s Mercy Hospitals.

Our faculty include 2 K-23 Awarded faculty researchers and multiple research projects and programs across a vast array of research within the Children’s Mercy Research Institute. CMKC provides each Division and project with a Research Business Partner to help shepherd concepts to funding, implementation, and completion. There is a medical writing center to support publication, and dissemination.

Resources on-site include our Office of Research Business Management and Medical Writing Center. These resources serve as the centralized support for the financial and business management for a Principal Investigator’s portfolio of funds which includes sponsored projects, gifts, endowments, startups, and residuals at Children’s Mercy. This hands-on approach provides guidance and oversight for the fiscal stewardship of research activities and for compliance with sponsor requirements, government regulations and hospital policies.
