Mission or Goal of Unit:
To provide the highest quality care to patients with skin disorders in an atmosphere of compassion and caring and to contribute exceptional dermatologists and dermatologic surgeons to the physician workforce.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The chief purpose of this position is to provide high quality, clinical dermatology care to adult and pediatric patients, educate the next generation of clinical dermatological physicians and contribute to the research portfolio of the the Department of Dermatology.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include supervision of residents and medical students. He/she will be expected to participate in Grand Rounds presentations and may choose to speak in other forums on the medical campus.
Research
Faculty member should be aware of the Department’s expectation of publishing and should seek opportunities to become involved in clinical research projects.
Service
Faculty member will be expected to embrace the Department’s commitment to the University goals and missions through volunteering for various administrative functions (e.g., participation on committees). Further, faculty member may choose to pursue service interests in national dermatologic organizations.
Clinical
Faculty member will provide clinical treatment to patients, either with or without residents, six to eight clinical sessions per week (one week=ten sessions).

VCU Health CMH is a state of the art facility, opened in 2017, which includes the opening of a labor and delivery unit. The new 166,700 square foot technologically-advanced facility features 70 private patient rooms and baths, including 10 intensive-coronary care rooms, four LDRP’s (single room obstetrical care) and bariatric rooms that are specially equipped with ceiling mounted lifts to ensure patient and staff safety.
The facility includes three operating room suites, a cesarean section suite, and a 16 bay emergency department.
The hospital has a permanent cardiac catheterization lab to provide the most advanced cardiac care in the region and a full complement of diagnostic services including MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, cardiac, vascular and pulmonary studies. With the new hospital, obstetrics also return to the region.
