The Pediatric Hematology, Oncology & Stem Cell Transplant Division at Riley Children's Health at Indiana University Health is interviewing applicants for Section Head of Oncology. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical and research background in pediatric oncology (focus in either Solid Tumor, Neuro-Oncology, or Leukemia/Lymphoma) and proven leadership experience.
Section Head Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for the oncology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including oncologists, nurses, radiologists, surgeons, and support staff, to create comprehensive care plans.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
- Drive initiatives to improve clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and operational efficiency within the oncology department.
- Participate in the recruitment and retention of top oncology talent, ensuring that the department is staffed with highly qualified professionals.
- Engage in strategic planning and decision-making to align oncology services with the organization’s overall mission and goals.
- Stay current with advancements in oncology treatment, research, and technologies, and integrate these into patient care.
- Collaborate with external organizations, research institutes, and industry partners to advance oncology care, clinical trials, and research efforts.
- Exhibit regular and active participation in Division and hospital meetings, as well as Department committees as requested or relevant
- Meet regularly with your section in Section meetings and patient tumor boards, the Division’s clinical directors and clinical leaders to ensure communication across all stakeholders; Collaboration with other leaders to review, validate and answer questions related to US News and World Report
- Monitor faculty and clinical training health and wellbeing
- Establish environment that encourages communication at all levels within the Division
- Establish standards of clinical and clinical research performance for all clinicals sections with the Division
- Provide a culture that values safety, efficiency, inclusion, and satisfaction for patients, their families, staff, and faculty across the clinical enterprise
- Promote and facilitate robust integration of clinical and lab research within the Section
- Advocate for clinical and provider needs within the Section; overall support for the needs and concerns of the providers in the Section
- Establish evidenced based guidelines that promote quality and cost-effective patient care delivery
- Generate Section SOCs; ensure uniformity amongst the Sections and adherence to SOC's

Qualifications
- At least 10 years oncology experience; Previous leadership or management experience in a clinical setting preferred; Associate or Full Professor
- Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship; Board Certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
- Physician MD/DO licensed in Indiana or eligible for medical licensure
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire a team, driving innovation and improvements in oncology care.
