Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a Section Chief for the Division of Pediatric Hand Surgery, Department of Orthopedics

Children’s Mercy Kansas City is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Chief to lead the Section of Pediatric Hand Surgery within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. The Section of Pediatric Hand Surgery has two pediatric hand surgeons and two advance practice nurses on staff. The hand team works closely with the remainder of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, including 11 additional pediatric surgeons and 5 non-surgical pediatric orthopedic specialists; as well as our partners in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

The applicant must possess a strong academic background, a record of clinical and academic achievements, and have experience being a visionary leader in multi-faceted surgical program. The successful candidate should be trained and experienced in pediatric hand, wrist, and upper extremities, and will be proficient in trauma, replantation, microsurgical reconstruction, congenital conditions, peripheral nerve and brachial plexus disorders, and the management of upper extremity spasticity disorders. The applicant should be eligible for medical licensure in the States of Missouri and Kansas.

This position includes an active clinical and surgical practice, along with both teaching and research opportunities. Academic appointments are available through the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC). Children’s Mercy Kansas City is the academic training site for UMKC orthopedic residents. We also provide training for rotating orthopedic residents from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
