Mountain Empire Radiology is seeking a skilled and motivated Interventional Radiologist to join the growing IR section of our hospital-based private group in Johnson City, TN.

Mountain Empire Radiology is comprised of 25 board-certified diagnostic, pediatric and interventional radiologists committed to serving the imaging and treatment needs of patients in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia for more than 40 years. The IR section is clinic-based, but practices at Johnson City Medical Center, a 400-bed tertiary facility, with a Level I Trauma Center, and a Stroke Center of Excellence. The IR section also covers Niswonger Children’s Hospital and 6 other acute care facilities under an exclusive contract with Ballad Health system.
Our interventional radiologists are leaders in bringing this modern specialty to the Appalachian region. Our clinic-based practice consists of 5 mid-levels who handle all inpatient consultations and perform a wide range of procedures, allowing interventionalists to focus on the most complex cases and cutting-edge interventions. We have an exceptional, collaborative working relationship with the Ballad Health leadership team, which assures the technical and financial support to thrive both professionally and personally. Successful candidates will join a long-standing, stable group.

About the Region
Situated in the Appalachian Mountains of Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia, the region has a service area catchment population of approximately 500k. It offers a mild climate in all 4 seasons, extensive year-round outdoor recreational activities, unique historic/cultural environment, excellent public/private schools, stable economy, affordable housing, and easy access to larger urban areas such as Knoxville, TN and Asheville, NC.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must be board-certified/eligible and able to obtain Tennessee and Virginia licenses. Must be able to practice the full spectrum of interventional services including oncology (Y90, chemoembolization, etc.), GI/Biliary, urological work, lower extremity venous cases along with bread-and-butter biopsies and drainage procedures. If willing to train in stroke thrombectomy, significant increase in income potential. Internal training provided. IR Call is only at one location and would be 1:3-5 (we are hiring at least 2 more IR physicians). Call coverage is shared equally among all IR physicians.
