In McHenry County, Mercyhealth employs 37 physicians in the area including a large site in Woodstock, the city of McHenry, and the surrounding areas. Currently, Mercyhealth is building an OBGYN team for McHenry County and this team will be surrounded by support and a strong referral base.

Mercyhealth is recruiting 2 additional MDs creating a strong team of 3 OBGYNs. The incoming physicians can choose to be based at the Crystal Lake clinic or the McHenry clinic 100% of their time. All deliveries will be performed at Northwestern Huntley Hospital and all gyn surgeries will be performed at the new Mercyhealth Crystal Lake Hospital
Mercyhealth McHenry Clinic:
The Mercyhealth McHenry Clinic currently has 8 physician practices. Specialties include Family medicine, Podiatry, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, GI, and Orthopedics. Other services include Radiology with mammography and ultrasound and PT/OT.
The OBGYN will have 3 exam rooms and a large treatment/procedure room. The clinic is located 25 minutes from Northwestern Huntley Hospital (deliveries performed here) and 12 minutes from the Crystal Lake Hospital (gyn cases performed here).
All deliveries will be performed at Northwestern Huntley Hospital, which is a 128-bed facility and a Level 2 trauma center with a Level 2 NICU. The family birthing center includes 20 patient beds with 2 ORs. Babies below 32 weeks are transferred out. There is 24-hour OB hospitalist coverage to handle emergencies.
Schedule and volumes: 4-day work week 1 OR day (flexibility for full OR day or two half days) averaging 20 patients per clinical day and 8-10 deliveries per month with a case mix including 50% OB vs 50% GYN. Deliveries will be performed at the Northwestern Huntley Hospital. GYN surgeries will be performed at the new Crystal Lake Hospital (not deliveries).
Support staff: RN and/or MA, regional medical officer, assistant regional medical officer, a clinic manager, nursing and reception supervisors as well as scheduling and back-office support. Mercyhealth would consider adding an APP to each practice as the needs arise and based on the interest of the physician.
The closest MFM support is in Rockford at the Regional Perinatal Center with a Level III NICU (60 minutes from Crystal Lake and McHenry)
