About Us: We offer comprehensive services, including acute admissions, psychosocial rehab, and special programs for the deaf. Our facility features onsite labs, radiology, physical therapy, and part-time dental services—everything you need to provide excellent patient care!

Your Role:

• Provide primary care to patients with a range of active and chronic conditions
• Supervise and mentor nurse practitioners and physician assistants
• Assist with pre-screening patients with complex medical histories
• Participate in night and weekend calls

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completed an accredited medical school and residency in Family or Internal Medicine
• Licensed to practice in Virginia
• Strong medical knowledge to care for acutely and chronically ill patients
• Experience supervising medical, NP, and PA students

Western State Hospital (WSH) is a state-of-the-art psychiatric hospital that has been operating since 1828 under the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services. We offer services to clients from ages 18 through 64 years old. WSH is a 302-bed Joint Commission accredited facility located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, within 30 minutes of major university towns. It is affiliated with the University of Virginia-Department of Psychiatric Medicine and provides a training ground for professionals from other colleges and universities in the fields of nursing, social work, psychology, and activities therapy.
