St. Peters Health Partners Medical Associates is seeking to recruit a fellowship trained, board certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon Division Chief to lead our outstanding and well-established Cardiac Surgery program at St. Peter’s Hospital located in Albany, NY. This leadership role will involve overseeing the hospital-employed Cardiac Surgeons, who perform a comprehensive range of adult cardiac surgical procedures (excluding transplants).

Leadership 

The ideal candidate for heading the Division of Cardiac Surgery at St. Peter’s Hospital will be an outstanding leader with a proven track record in clinical practice. Renowned for its clinical excellence and high-quality patient care, the Division seeks someone with a history of exceptional patient outcomes and clinical performance. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to drive significant strategic planning in cardiothoracic surgery. They should be capable of setting a clear vision, inspiring and managing effectively, and mentoring others. The Chief will serve as the spokesperson for the CT program, responsible for enhancing and developing referral relationships, increasing cardiac surgery volume, and cultivating a successful program.

This opportunity is a hospital employed position with 25+ employed Cardiologists. There is a robust referral network, from both the employed and non-employed regional cardiology practices with a large geographic catchment area that includes Southern Vermont and Western Massachusetts. The clinic and surgical office are conveniently located on hospital campus. There is strong Surgical PA support with 24/7 support at a large modern hospital facility.

Services range from minimally invasive surgery to more complex procedures requiring combinations of traditional and advanced techniques. Covering all aspects of cardiac care, except for transplantation, our surgical results have consistently surpassed both the state and national standards.

Requirements: 

  • Board certification in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery.
  • Robotic Certification and Experience a plus.
  • NYS License or eligibility.
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience, at least 2 years of leadership experience.
