Job Description: 

Full-time Anesthesiologist position available at Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH) in Cambridge. At Mount Auburn Hospital, our mission is to improve the health of the residents of Cambridge and its surrounding communities. We believe that “every patient is the only patient.” 

Mt. Auburn has 217 licensed beds and provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services. We provide anesthesia services to a broad range of surgical specialties. Our clinical case mix includes: general surgery (colorectal, major pancreas and liver surgery), cardiac (CABG, valve repair and replacement, TAVI, structural heart procedures), thoracic (open lung resections, VATS, mediastinal masses), vascular (lower extremity bypass, carotid endarterectomy and aortic aneurysm), orthopedics (total joint replacements, traumatic injuries, sports medicine), otolaryngology, cancer surgery, robotics (urology, gynecology, general surgery), podiatry, plastics, gastroenterology endoscopy (screening, endoscopic ultrasound and ERCPs), cardiology (EP ablations, structural heart, TEE, cardioversions), ECTs, and obstetrics.  

Our physicians cover all types of cases, obstetrics and peripheral nerve blocks. There is a separate team for cardiac surgery and structural heart procedures. This gives us the benefit of having a well- rounded clinical staff with a broad repertoire of skills in clinical anesthesia. We have certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) in-house coverage 24/7 to help cover our busy OR and obstetrics service, and many CRNAs are proficient with neuraxial techniques. 

Call at MAH: 

  • Weekday Call – once/week 
  • Weekend Call – 3x/quarter

Skills & Requirements: 

  • Requires a degree in medicine from an accredited medical school and is licensed to practice medicine in Massachusetts
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within anesthesia. Relies on sound experience and judgement to plan and accomplish safe treatment goals
  • Works collaboratively with all APHMFP staff
  • Adaptability and confidence are valued
  • Adherence to established practice guidelines as set by the department and governing bodies is mandatory
  • Board certified or board eligible in Anesthesiology
