Medical Directors - Primary Care Health Centers

SCHEDULE/SHIFT: 8am – 5pm Monday-Friday, evenings and weekends may be required. Participation in after-hours remote on-call pool required.  

Primary Care Health Center Medical Directors lead a team of clinical and operational managers at one of our community-based primary care clinics. Duties include direct patient care (30%); guiding quality improvement programs; supporting career development of managers, providers, and staff; and designing programs and services that are attuned to the needs of the diverse communities we serve. 

 ABOUT SFHN PRIMARY CARE: Primary Care division is at the center of San Francisco Health Network’s complete system of care. Our fourteen (14) health centers/programs, provide high-quality, compassionate care to the City’s children, youth, adults, and elders regardless of immigration status or ability to pay.  

On-site specialty services include prenatal care and family planning services; integrated behavioral health and substance use services; dental, gender health, nutrition, pharmacy, and podiatry services; integrative health services such as acupuncture; and care for people experiencing homelessness and refugees/asylum seekers.  

Our Primary Care teams’ partner with University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) faculty and staff who provide acute, specialty, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation care; teach health care trainees; and conduct research at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG).

Current Available Clinics: 

Castro Mission Health Center (CMHC) serves approximately 4000 adults and children. Approximately 50% of our patients are Latinx and many of our patients identify LGBTQ. We have longstanding and active HIV treatment and prevention programs. We are a leading provider of Transgender care and host a weekly Transgender youth clinic called Dimensions. Over the last few years, we have expanded our pediatric and prenatal services and now care for a growing number of families.

Potrero Hill Health Center (PHHC) provides primary care, prenatal, pediatric, behavioral health, substance abuse, and family planning services to approximately 3,500 patients. We also offer acupuncture for all patients in the health network. We serve a racially and ethnically diverse population with about one-third Spanish speakers and one-fourth identifying as Black/African American. PHHC has a small clinic feel, and a cohesive and supportive staff culture. 

 

Silver Avenue Family Health Center (SAFHC) serves a diverse patient population, including those who identify as Latinx, Asian, and Black/African American, and delivers full spectrum family medicine care to patients, including children and pregnant women. Providers take pride in offering high quality, compassionate, culturally competent, evidence-based care to the families we serve. 

 

Do You Qualify? 

  1. Possession of a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California. 
  1. Possession of valid Board Certification?in the appropriate medical specialty area for the?assigned facility or division. 
  1. Three (3) years of post-residency experience?as a practicing physician in the respective medical specialty area. 
    One (1) year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a forty (40) hour work week).
