Chief of Anesthesia provides the most effective delivery of anesthetic care to our Veterans. Participate in and/or manages all aspects of the Anesthesia Program, to include outpatient clinical, surgical, and administrative. The Incumbent maintains licensure and credentials sufficient to practice Anesthesiology, including diagnostic and medical therapeutic modalities for treatment of diseases, conditions and injuries related to the Anesthesia field.

We do have special opportunities for pools of patients to be dedicated to either all geriatrics or women's health.
This position requires  no call coverage  and has an ideal  Monday through Friday workday (8-4:30 pm). 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Chief of Anesthesia provides the most effective delivery of anesthetic care to our Veterans.
  • Participate in and/or manages all aspects of the Anesthesia Program, to include outpatient clinical, surgical, and administrative.
  • Provide comprehensive anesthesia services, including pre- and post-operative services and follow-up care for surgical patients.
  • The Chief of Anesthesia will be part of a collaborative anesthesia department with independently functioning CRNAs and anesthesiologists.
  • The Chief of Anesthesiology is expected to maintain current medical knowledge and technical skills and provide both leadership and documentation that all anesthesiologists within the Service are competent with respect to current privilege within the Anesthesia Service. He/she is expected to maintain excellent diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen in the care of veterans receiving anesthesiology interventions.
  • The Chief of Anesthesiology is expected to maintain current medical knowledge and technical skills and provide both leadership and documentation that all anesthesiologists within the Service are competent with respect to privileges within the Anesthesia Service. He/she is expected to maintain excellent diagnostic, judgmental, and therapeutic acumen in the care of veterans receiving anesthesiology interventions.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant moonlighting restrictions. This Chief Position will be on-site with administrative time built-in and open for Hybrid remote for admin time.
