The TTUHSC Department of Internal Medicine in Amarillo is dedicated to patient care, teaching at the resident and medical student levels and research. It's a strong and growing department with a close faculty-resident/student interrelationship and a strong foundation in general internal medicine.
Established in the mid-1970's as a regional campus of the flagship Texas Tech University in Lubbock, with a goal of training physicians for the underserved West Texas and Panhandle region, TTUHSC is now a separate university in the Texas Tech University System. The Amarillo campus operates under the leadership of the Regional Dean and the Regional Department Chairs.
The Internal Medicine department includes clinical and didactic teaching, working at both public and private institutions and includes patients across the entire socioeconomic spectrum. We see the health problems typical of various groups, the common and the uncommon, the general and the subspecialty-oriented, the inpatient and outpatient.
"Our department is passionate about advancing the health of our panhandle citizens through clinical practice, research and graduating competent caring physicians." Tarek Naguib, MD, MBA, FACP - Regional Chair, Department of Internal Medicine
