The Karl and Patricia Betz Congenital Heart Center (CHC) at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) seeks a Board Certified/Board Eligible Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) physician to join its experienced staff. The ACHD program is fully accredited and has an extensive multidisciplinary team that provides comprehensive subspecialty cardiac and psychosocial services to a large and growing population of patients throughout Michigan.
Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (HDVCH) is a nationally ranked, 234 bed state-of-the-art dedicated children’s hospital, and is part of the Corewell Health system. It is physically attached to the adult medical services at Corewell Health - West Michigan, including Butterworth Hospital and the Meijer Heart center.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a collaborative spirit and track record of working successfully across multiple fields of practice.
Position Highlights:
Care for ACHD patients in both outpatient and inpatient settings, including consultative support for post-operative care of these patients
Work with CHC leadership on expansion of services for improved access for ACHD patients
Participate in the interpretation of advanced cardiac imaging (CMR)
Involvement in QI/ performance improvement and research
Training and expertise in advanced cardiac imaging including CMR with expectation to supervise and report CMR studies would be preferred

ACHD seamlessly integrates with the pediatric CHC program via an exceptional transition program.
Although administratively based in the Children’s Hospital, inpatient ACHD patient care is located throughout Spectrum health, including the adjoining Frederick Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute (FMHVI).
The ACHD team is partnered with adult cardiology services at adjoining Meijer heart for VAD support and heart and lung transplantation
The ACHD team includes 2 full time ACHD physicians and a cardiothoracic surgeon with over 30 years’ experience in ACHD care. An additional 5 ACHD board certified pediatric cardiologists provide subspecialty expertise in advanced imaging, electrophysiology, transcatheter therapies and exercise physiology. All ACHD physicians share in the ACHD call and inpatient coverage.
Basic Qualifications:
Education - MD/DO, Pediatric Cardiologist with training in Adult Congenital Cardiology
BC/BE candidates in ACHD
Licenses - Medical License in State of MI
Federal Narcotics License from the State of Michigan
Basic Life Support (BLS) Specific to SHMG 90 Days
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Specific to SHMG: ACLS required if stress tests performed or as required by specialty. 120 Days
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Specific to SHMG: (PALS is required by if specialty or stress test performed 120
