Are you a psychiatrist looking to make a difference? We’re seeking a dedicated psychiatrist to join our expanding team at a vibrant inpatient facility in Williamsburg, Virginia! Whether you're an experienced clinician or a recent graduate, we welcome your application to help us provide exceptional care to our adult inpatient population.

Your Role:

  • Provide clinical leadership and quality psychiatric care to an acute adult inpatient population.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations of psychiatric illnesses.
  • Manage psychiatric medications in accordance with best practices, documenting treatment responses.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care and successful discharge planning.

Position Highlights:

  • Caseload of 10-20 patients per practitioner, with PCP coverage provided.
  • Short and long-term length of stay for patients.
  • Opportunities to attend court hearings and participate in a variety of treatment modalities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Board Certified / Board Eligible Psychiatrist
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree and completion of an accredited/approved psychiatry residency training program
  • Virginia State Medical License
  • DEA Registration

Founded in 1773, Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg, Virginia, is the first public facility in the United States dedicated solely for the care and treatment of the mentally ill. Today, our newly constructed state-of-the-art campus is situated on 500 acres with two patient care buildings and a staff of over 900 caring for 302 adult patients. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, is accredited by the Joint Commission, and a federally designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).
