Dignity Health plans to construct a $70 million state-of-the-art Comprehensive Regional Cancer Center with pristine riverfront views along the Sacramento River. This project will be located at the Hartnell Avenue and Cypress Avenue intersection in Redding, with easy access to I-5 from all neighboring counties.  Groundbreaking is scheduled for September 2024, and a Grand Opening is expected in early 2026.

With approximately 40,000 square feet, the outpatient Regional Cancer Center will serve our thousands of cancer patients and their families by bringing all outpatient services under one roof. The center will incorporate a full suite of diagnostic imaging for oncology including a Women’s Imaging center, PET/CT scanner, Radiosurgery center, Specialty Surgical Oncologists, Nurse Navigators, Nutritionists, dedicated infusion room Pharmacists and Social workers. This will further alleviate the stress of travel and allow for comprehensive, patient-centered treatment and support.

This transformational project will ensure that our world-class team of oncology professionals has access to the best facility in the north state: one that promotes a collaborative work environment dedicated to improving patient visits and outcomes. It will allow Dignity Health and Mercy Redding to attract new and innovative oncologists to help grow the program and maintain the exceptional care we have been providing to our community for more than 70 years. A project like this will expand the continuity of cancer care for our patients at Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta and St. Elizabeth Community Hospital.

Community Description
Do you love where you live? Come join our oncology group located in the heart of far northern California. Redding is a small city surrounded by a sea of rural and offering the best of both. Located on the I-5 corridor midway between Sacramento and the Oregon border, Redding has the amenities of a city, but with opportunities for kayaking, mountain biking, hiking, or fishing within minutes of the clinic's front door.

Redding is truly the "Choose-your-own-adventure" town with two reservoirs just minutes away, the mighty Sacramento River flowing through the center of town, 225 miles of trails within a 15-miles radius, an active musical theater scene, state and national parks, and hunting and fishing opportunities galore. Want to spend the weekend in the city? Sacramento is just over two hours away through easy farmland and the bay area is only about three to four hours from Redding. Want to refresh your spirit by dipping your toes in the ocean? A quick three hour drive takes you through bigfoot country to the northern CA coast. (Bonus points if you drive about 20 minutes farther to explore Jurassic Park - aka Fern Canyon - or the forest moon of Endor - aka Grizzly Creek SP.)

Everyone loves the idea of moving to California, but let's be honest: it's expensive and packed with people. Give Far Northern California a shot. Redding has everything you love about California, but with a far lower cost of living than in the bay area or southern California. The city of Redding is about the same size as the city of San Francisco, but with about a tenth of the population. Oh, and did I mention 300 days per year of sun and no shoveling snow? You're going to love Redding.

Community Setting

  • Redding is a small city with the feel of a large town
  • Best fly fishing in Northern California
  • Outdoors men heaven
  • Low cost of living and some of the lowest housing costs in the state
  • Enjoy an active lifestyle with easy access to national parks, multiple lakes within minutes, and the Sacramento River Trail system right in the middle of town
  • Visit multiple local breweries and wineries or watch the symphony and local theatre
  • Mountain views in three directions, with no need to shovel snow!
