The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a Senior Bone Marrow Transplant physician at the assistant or associate level in downtown Charleston, SC. Duties include participation in inpatient and outpatient services as well as outreach programs; development, participation, and implementation of clinical and investigative programs in malignant hematology/BMT.
About this role:
MUSC’s Blood and Marrow Transplant Program performs the full complement of transplants, from autologous to haploidentical with all types of preparative regimens. The BMT program is also a member of the National Marrow Donor Program and a member of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research. Since 2003, the BMT program has been accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT). The Division’s Bone Marrow Transplant Program has earned the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Distinction. The outpatient program has expanded to autologous and allogeneic transplants. Additionally, MUSC is the only CAR-T certified program in South Carolina and participates in both clinical trials and commercially available CAR-T treatment programs.

As the largest academic cancer center in South Carolina, the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center is the state’s only National Cancer Institute and one of only 71 NCI centers in the U.S. The center has NCI approved programs in developmental cancer therapeutics, cancer immunology, cancer biology, and cancer control, as well as multiple shared resource cores and state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities. These include a highly developed clinical trials office with a growing multi-center trials network and Phase I trials program, a translational science laboratory, a robust biorepository and tissue analysis resource, and a clean-cell evaluation and therapy facility. Clinical and translational research at The Hollings Cancer Center is supported by transdisciplinary cancer teams in seven tumor specific working groups and within the university is supported by an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award. In addition, the Hollings Cancer Center functions in close partnership with pediatric oncology faculty in the recently opened Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital.
