Urologist need in San Diego!

The VA San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) is seeking a Urologist as a staff physician at the Jennifer Moreno Medical Center Spinal Cord Injury / Disorders (SCI/D) Center in La Jolla, CA. Travel may be required to perform patient care at the additional Community Based Outreach Clinics (CBOCs) in Oceanside, Kearny Mesa, and Chula Vista based on patient needs.

The VASDHS SCI/D Staff Urologist is assigned to Surgical Services, Urology Surgery Section, of the VASDHS. They will provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Urology services.

The major duties for this position include the clinical and administrative supervision of patient care and treatment for those requiring urology care. The Urologist selected will be qualified to perform all the elective, urgent and emergent functions of the specialty. They will be expected to comply with the policies and procedures of the Operating Room and be punctual and dependable regarding their surgical responsibilities. The Urologist will perform on-call duties and clinic duties. They will perform all duties required to evaluate new patients, consults and follow-up in a clinic, ward, or ICU setting. 

The staff physician will see Veterans in both the inpatient and outpatient clinical setting. The majority time will be devoted to patient care, with the remaining time set aside for allied health provider supervision, education, performance improvement activities, and research to improve patient care and activities sufficient to maintain proficiency in state-of-the-art medical care.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Unrestricted U.S. Medical License
  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited residency in Urology
  • Board certification with the American Board of Urology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ABMS sub-specialty board certification preferred
  • Fellowship trained in Andrology, Oncology, Urogenital Reconstruction, or any urological subspecialty

 

Work Schedule: M-F 0800-1630 (Position is not eligible for telework). Opportunities for compressed schedule consisting of four 10 hour days per week.

Call Schedule: 21 days per year in one-week increments. Call is shared with the University of California San Diego (UCSD). Will provide coverage for Jennifer Moreno VA Medical Center, UCSD La Jolla and UCSD Hillcrest.
