General Job Duties for Medical Director

As part of the Capital Health Medical Group (CHMG), Medical Directors are working physicians that provide leadership to their team by exemplifying the mission, vision and values of the organization.  Medical Directors are the physician champions for new organizational initiatives. As part of the Medical Director role, physicians serve on and provide leadership to hospital and medical staff committees. They assist in establishing regular reporting mechanisms to monitor activity and work with the operations team to address variances and take appropriate corrective action. Quality patient care and service excellence are a few of the many priorities for Medical Directors.

The role requires the Medical Director to supervise the development of and participate in Capital Health quality assurance and quality improvement programs. The Medical Director works with the team to achieve, measure, and report quality outcomes through the establishment of best practice guidelines, industry standards, and a multidisciplinary approach to care. They foster the development of interdisciplinary cooperation within Capital Health. The role does also require the director to ensure financial targets align with short and long-range goals. They actively engage with the health system’s department partners in development, coordination, and supervision of all operating policies and procedures for Capital Health as it relates to building and expanding the service line.
