The Henry Ford Medical Group Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine is seeking a physician for the role of Hospice Medical Director.

The physician will:
- Oversee the medical component of the hospice’s patient care program.
- Supervise hospice physicians and advanced practice providers in the Henry Ford Medical Group Division of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
- Support the Hospice Director of Operations in ensuring compliance with Michigan Department of Public Health, CMS regulatory body, and CHAP Accreditation rules and regulations for medical care in the hospice program.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of goals, objectives, and the hospice program strategic plan.
- Conduct educational seminars, in-services, and presentations to health system and community clinicians to promote hospice services and increase access for patients.
- Collaborate with patients’ attending physicians and the hospice interdisciplinary team to effectively manage patients’ terminal illness(es), related conditions and distressing symptoms.
- Perform patient home visits when appropriate based on patient need and as requested by the hospice interdisciplinary team.
- Utilize knowledge of prognostication and hospice regulation to determine eligibility for hospice care, relatedness of patient diagnoses, and appropriate level of care to meet patient needs.
- Supervise and train medical students, residents, fellows, and other interdisciplinary learners (serving as faculty for our ACGME- accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program with 2 fellows per year)
- Participate in scholarly activities in education, quality improvement, and/or research
Based on interest and skills the physician may:
- Serve as Medical Director of the Henry Ford Palliative Care at Home Program
Requirements:
- Initial board certification in a primary specialty
- Board-certification or Board-eligibility in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
- Palliative Medicine Fellowship training or other comparable experience
