Hartford HealthCare’s Digestive Health Institute is seeking a general surgeon with fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery and a demonstrated interest in complex Hernia & Abdominal Core Health to join our thriving practice and contribute to our expanding team!

The Digestive Health Institute is comprised of a world-class GI and Surgery care team of local and national leaders in their fields. Many of our physicians have advanced sub-specialty training, and are backed by a full team of interdisciplinary medical and surgical specialists across the system of care. The institute is structured around seven system wide interdisciplinary clinical councils including Complex Hernia and Abdominal Core Health, Medical & Surgical Weight Loss, Colorectal Surgery, Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery, Foregut Surgery, Gastroenterology and Advanced Endoscopy & Endoluminal Surgery. Each of our clinical programs is the market leader in the State of Connecticut.

·         Join an established, high volume practice with mentorship and support from fellowship trained surgeons

·         Focus on complex hernia care and abdominal wall reconstruction, MIS foregut surgery and general surgery cases. No trauma or breast coverage.

·         Reasonable emergency general surgery call schedule where a mature and active acute care surgery division provides most call coverage

·         Support team includes four Advanced Practice Providers and dedicated nursing support

Qualifications

·         Board certification or eligibility in general surgery.

·         Completion of a Minimally-invasive Surgery fellowship or Abdominal Wall Reconstruction/Hernia fellowship.

·         Experience with open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques in hernia repair.

·         Experience with the DaVinci Robot.

·         Dedication to collaborating within a busy, collegial clinical environment alongside a multidisciplinary group of physicians and providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

·         Eagerness to engage in significant teaching opportunities afforded by our strong partnership with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and its Integrated General Surgery Residency Program.
