Pediatric Psychologist Specializing in Eating Disorders

PEDIATRIC PSYCHOLOGIST: We are seeking a full-time clinical psychologist specializing in eating disorder diagnosis and treatment. This position will work within an interprofessional team in the Eating Disorder Clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital.  The Eating Disorder team is currently comprised of three psychologists, three board-certified adolescent medicine physicians, two certified dietitians, and two RN case managers.  The program currently provides inpatient medical stabilization with psychological support as well as outpatient management of eating disorders. 

The primary responsibilities of psychologists on the team include the delivery of evidence-based diagnostic and treatment services to the children and young adults aged 8-25, served by the Eating Disorders program in the Division of Adolescent Medicine  This position offers excellent opportunities for collaboration with physicians, dietitians, nurses and other health care professionals as members of the multidisciplinary team. Supervision, teaching and training are available, including: supervision of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in psychology, teaching of pediatric residents, and training of child psychiatry fellows.  Further, opportunities for research and program development are available and encouraged.

We also serve as a major teaching affiliate of Northeast Ohio Medical University, and offer a number of pediatric subspecialty fellowship programs.

 Requirements: Ph. D. or Psy.D. in clinical psychology, including completion of an internship in an APA-accredited psychology program.  Applicants who have completed a post-doctoral fellowship in psychology and with hospital-based work experience preferred.  Experience in evaluation and treatment of adolescent eating disordered populations treated by the Center strongly preferred, with special emphasis on individual, family, and group treatment.  Must be license-eligible in the State of Ohio. Board certification through ABPP must be obtained within 5 years of candidate’s start date.  Candidates from minority and diverse cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
