Overview

AdventHealth Orlando, Florida is looking for a dynamic and energetic lung transplant surgeon with preferred previous leadership experience to help grow our program. The surgeon will work with our currently experienced and established pulmonology and surgery team to lead our high quality and growing lung transplant program.  We have a full comprehensive Transplant Institute that includes both thoracic and abdominal transplant teams.  Our team performs over 50 hearts, 20 lungs, and 30-50 VAD’s per year with multi organ transplant capability, including combined heart and lung transplant.   

The AdventHealth Transplant Institute is located at AdventHealth Orlando, Florida just outside downtown Orlando close to the charming Winter Park community.  AdventHealth Orlando campus opened (in September 2020) a state of-the-art 32 bed critical care and ECMO unit dedicated to the cardio thoracic transplant service.  AdventHealth has a hospital-based organ procurement organization (Our Legacy is a top performing OPO in the United States). 

Transplant Surgeon Requirements:
•    Board certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery 
•    Thoracic transplant fellowship training
•    Comprehensive clinical experience in large volume program with advanced cardiac surgery, heart and lung procurement, acute shock, heart failure and mechanical circulatory support
•    Candidates can be a general thoracic surgeon with experience in lung transplant, adult cardiac, or established expertise with lung transplant and shock.
•    Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with private practice and employed models.

The AdventHealth HLVI is centered in a quaternary facility known as AdventHealth Orlando with a beautiful Ginsburg Tower. This 15-story sanctuary of healing offers patients a full range of comprehensive heart and vascular care, including 12 hybrid operating rooms housing electrophysiology, vascular and invasive cardiology. 

Practice Description

This is an employment opportunity that includes the benefits of call coverage and competitive compensation.
