Trauma and Acute Care Surgery - Full Time - Sarasota, Florida!

First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System is seeking to employ two (2) full -time BC/BE Trauma Surgeons to join our Acute Care Surgery team consisting of surgical ICU, trauma, and emergency general surgery.  Sarasota is located approximately 60 minutes south of Tampa.  The area is known for the arts, great restaurants, world-class beaches, excellent schools, and a wide variety of activities for all ages.

Position Highlight:

• Join nine (9) Trauma/General/Surgical Critical Care Surgeons and five (5) General Surgeons covering ACS call.
• SMH is a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center
• FDOH Designation Trauma Center since 2016 and re-designated in 2023 with no deficiencies.
• Over 175,000 emergency visits and 2800 Trauma Activations annually
• Supported team approach with 19 APPs.
• Two (2) Primary State-of-the-art Trauma Bays and six (6) back up rooms.
• Two (2) dedicated Trauma Operating Rooms + 5 daVinci Xi Robots on site.
• Management of 20 ICU beds
• Robust Interventional Radiology Service
• Employed Hospitalist and Anesthesia groups  
• Dedicated Trauma pharmacist, social worker, and rehabilitation team (PT/OT/SLT).

Requirements:

• Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
• Double boarded with the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Surgical Critical Care and 2+ years of experience preferred.
• License in the state of Florida or eligible for medical licensure in the state.
