Join our Norton Children's Child Abuse Team

NORTON CHILDREN’S PEDIATRIC PROTECTION SPECIALISTS, AFFILIATED WITH THE UOFL SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, and a part of Norton Children's Medical Group, is seeking multiple child abuse pediatricians to join our practice. Our rapidly expanding team of professionals includes child abuse pediatricians, a social worker, four advanced practice providers, six nurses and administrative support staff. We evaluate children from across Kentucky and Southern Indiana who are suspected victims of child maltreatment. Through our fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), our team has trained fellows who have gone on to provide care from Maine to South Dakota. Norton Children's Pediatric Protection Specialists sees children at Norton Children’s Hospital, a free-standing tertiary and quarternary care facility, and we perform case reviews for children who are not seen in person.

Our child abuse pediatricians work in tandem with a nurse or nurse practitioner on all cases, with responsibility for evaluation, case management, on call, report writing and court testimony when needed. About the Position:

  • Our team is unique in our use of clinical forensic nurses as physician extenders; nurses and nurse practitioners take first call and collaborate with the on-call physician for every patient
  • Appointment to a faculty position at the University of Louisville School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, which offers robust support for clinical research, academic pursuits and teaching

  • Candidate must be board certified in general pediatrics, and board certified/board eligible in child abuse pediatrics

 

Requirements:

  • Medical degree/diploma
  • Kentucky medical license or license eligible
  • Residency/fellowship certification
