Join our Norton Children's Neurology Team

NORTON CHILDREN’S NEUROSCIENCE INSTITUTE, affiliated with the UofL School of Medicine, and a part of Norton Children’s Medical Group, is seeking pediatric epileptologists with an academic role at the assistant, associate or full professor level, as well as an experienced candidate to serve as medical director and chief of pediatric epilepsy services. These positions are a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary team of 19 physicians, 16 advanced practice providers, 3 neurosurgeons and 2 neuropsychologists.

Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to treating epilepsy and seizures. Norton Children’s is ranked in the top 50 nationally in neurology and neurosurgery on U.S. News & World Report’s list of Best Children’s Hospitals 2023-2024. Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Norton Children’s Hospital is designated a Level 4 program by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers, and offers an eight-bed epilepsy monitoring unit, surgical theater, positron emission tomography, single-photon emission computerized tomography and laser interstitial thermal therapy. Our team uses advanced diagnostic tools and technologies such as neuroimaging, vagus nerve stimulation, responsive neurostimulation, deep brain stimulation and surgical robotics. In addition to comprehensive diagnostics and treatment options, Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute supports several epilepsy subspecialty clinics, including clinics for new-onset seizure, refractory epilepsy, neuromodulation, ketogenic diet and tuberous sclerosis.

These positions offer regular opportunities to work closely with medical students, residents and fellows. In 2023, Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute launched an accredited pediatric epilepsy fellowship

PEDIATRIC EPILEPTOLOGIST

  • Provide clinical care as part of the growth and expansion of Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute’s multidisciplinary epilepsy clinics
  • Academic position teaching residents and medical students in the UofL School of Medicine Department of Neurology Division of Child Neurology
  • Board-certified or board-eligible and fellowship-trained in pediatric epilepsy required

PEDIATRIC EPILEPTOLOGIST AS MEDICAL DIRECTOR AND CHIEF OF PEDIATRIC EPILEPSY

  • Senior leadership position with clinical and academic oversight of the Norton Children’s Neuroscience Institute Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and all related epilepsy services
  • Supervision of epilepsy services and leadership role in subspecialty clinics
  • Opportunity to develop, institute and maintain best practices and foster academic pursuits for all clinical faculty and staff
  • Clinical support of inpatient services, fellows’ clinic, epilepsy surgery candidate screening and reducing the wait list for patients with epilepsy, as well as service responsibilities for electroencephalograms, the epilepsy monitoring unit and reading of studies
  • Administrative efforts toward fostering success with our pediatric neurology ranking in U.S. News & World Report, expanding our epilepsy services and building a strong culture of research and scholarship
  • Distribution of work effort based on the selected candidate’s preference and experience
  • Strong track record in clinical research and scholarship preferred
