The Department of Pediatrics in the Duke University School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding physician at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as Chief for the Division of Neurology. This is a wonderful opportunity to lead a group of outstanding faculty members in their mission of delivering the highest quality care to patients and their families at Duke Children’s Neurology Department.
Proven leadership and excellence in clinical care, education, research, scholarship, and administrative experience are required.
Candidates must have a Doctorate of Medicine (or equivalent) and be board-certified in Pediatric Neurology. Candidates must also have or be eligible for a North Carolina medical license.
Priorities for the Division Chief of Neurology include developing innovative patient programs, mentoring faculty, and enhancing research and academic programs. The division currently includes eleven faculty, four nurse practitioners, three nurse clinicians, seven pediatric neurology residents, several research associates, neurophysiology fellows and clerical staff. Their academic interests comprise a full range of neurological conditions including diseases of the brain, peripheral nervous system (nerves), and muscles.
The division includes subspeciality areas including Neurodevelopment, Epileptology, Tuberous Sclerosis, Headache, Autoimmune Brain Disease, Neurodegeneration and Neuro Intensive Care. Education of learners at the resident and medical student levels is an integral and essential component of the division’s mission. All faculty excel at bedside teaching, and the division has been repeatedly honored for their teaching from the graduating pediatrics and medicine-pediatrics residents.
Faculty also work closely with members of other divisions including Adult Neurology, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Medical Genetics, Rheumatology, Hospital Medicine, Critical Care and Neurosurgery.
