Our Primary Care Physician (PCP) functions as a team provider in shared workflow with a multidisciplinary Patient-Aligned Care Team (PACT - a medical home model), or as a float or gap provider assigned to provide comprehensive, collaborative same day and continuity care to an assigned panel of Veterans as well as to patients outside the assigned panel when Veteran care indicates a need for such. Medical care is delivered in accordance with current clinical practice guidelines with attention to prevention via utilization of evidence-based clinical decision-making tools. In addition to the provision of high-quality medical care, PACT Physicians demonstrate excellence in customer service via compassionate and informed interpersonal relationships with veterans, family members and staff.

 

Salary Range: $260,000-$285,000

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen, (green card, or visa eligible) 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state and 3) board certification in family or internal medicine. 

 

INCENTIVES:  Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers up to $200,000 over 5-years, tax-free and/or Recruitment Incentive with minimum 3-year service obligation. Recruitment/ relocation may be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

The Department of Veteran Affairs Northern California Health Care System (VANCHCS) is an integrated health care delivery system, offering a comprehensive array of medical, surgical, rehabilitative, mental health and extended care to veterans in Northern California. The health system is comprised of a medical center in Sacramento; a rehabilitation and extended care facility in Martinez; outpatient clinics in Martinez, Fairfield, Vallejo, Stockton, Modesto, Sonora, Sacramento (Mather and McClellan Park), Auburn, Yuba City, Redding, Chico, and Yreka; and dental clinics in Vallejo, Sacramento and Redding.

 

The Martinez VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) offers a full range of medical, surgical, mental health, and diagnostic outpatient services, including nuclear medicine, ultra-sound, CT and MRI. The clinic also operates a freestanding ambulatory surgery center. Additional services available at this facility include an infusion clinic, substance abuse treatment, pain management, rehabilitation medicine, phototherapy, audiology and speech pathology, women's health, Home Based Primary Care, EMG, EEG, movement disorder and a vascular laboratory. Also situated on this campus is a Community Living Center (CLC), a 120-bed extended care facility, offering subacute, rehabilitation, restorative, palliative, respite and transitional care. In addition, the CLC operates a neurocognitive unit, subacute unit, and a 23-hour bed program in support of post-procedural ambulatory care services.

 

Martinez is a small, cozy, historic town nestled between the Mount Diablo foothills and the Carquinez Straights. Federal Retirement Plan:

  • VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan
  • How is the pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee’s salary
  • Similar to the 401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service. For calendar year 2020, employees under the age of 50 may contribute up to $19,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $25,500.
  • The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
  • For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension
  • In addition to FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
  • Disability Retirement
  • Employees are vested in a federal pension after only 5 years service
