In partnership with University Medical Center, the Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center is growing its Hematology/Oncology program in West Texas. 

  • Great opportunity for 2 full-time Hematology/Oncology applicants! 
  • Centers of Excellence for both Breast and Lung. 
  • Opportunities to focus on Breast, Head and neck, Melanoma, or Malignant & benign blood disorders.
  • Resources include a state-of-the-art infusion center, strong disease-specific tumor boards, nurse navigation, and symptom management clinic.
  • Academic opportunities are also available including training fellows, giving lectures, and participating in conferences and research.

Clinical Oncologist Expectations:

  • 4 clinical days per week with patient expectations averaging 25 patients per day
  • Full day of administrative time built-in (4-day week)
  • Salary at 75% MGMA with RVU bonus
  • Chiefly outpatient practice within a state-of-the-art cancer center with some inpatient consultations on a rotational basis. 

Academic Oncologist Expectations:

  • 3-6 Half days of clinical care with patient expectations averaging 15 patients per day
  • Protected academic time based on research or teaching responsibilities
  • Salary at 50% AAMC with RVU bonus
  • Chiefly outpatient practice within a state-of-the-art cancer center with some inpatient consultations on a rotational basis

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be board certified, board eligible, or in training to become board eligible in Hematology Oncology. 
  • They must also be eligible for medical licensure in Texas and be eligible for faculty appointment.

In addition to the TTUHSC/UMC Cancer Center facility, TTUHSC conducts laboratory and clinical cancer research at UMC. Investigators are funded by the NCI, the Department of Defense, and the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). The Center is home to a regional consortium that carries out cancer biobanking and phase I and II clinical trials (www.SPONC.org). The Children’s Oncology Group Childhood Cancer Repository (www.COGcell.org) is in the Center. A CPRIT-funded grant to the Center established the Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer Developmental Therapeutics Center at TTUHSC.

 

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology – We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join the team.  This position will provide inpatient Hem/Onc consult service and cover outpatient clinic 2 days per week.  Opportunities to publish peer-reviewed clinical research.
