Core Faculty, Family Medicine Residency Program

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Family Medicine Core Faculty members to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development and success of our new Family Medicine Residency Program.

Role Overview:

As a Family Medicine Residency Core Faculty member, you will play a critical role in the education, training, and professional development of our resident physicians. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and scholarly activities within the context of the Family Medicine Residency Program.

Responsibilities:

Teaching and Mentoring:

  • Conduct didactic sessions, workshops, and grand rounds for residents.
  • Provide clinical supervision, bedside teaching, and feedback to residents during their rotations.
  • Foster a positive learning environment and encourage resident engagement in scholarly activities.
  • Inpatient rounding and teaching on IM and/or OB highly desirable

Curriculum Development and Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with the Residency Program Director and other faculty to design and implement a comprehensive, evidence-based curriculum.
  • Continuously assess and revise the curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of residents and aligns with current best practices.

Resident Evaluation and Feedback:

  • Participate in regular resident evaluations, including direct observation of clinical skills, case discussions, and milestone assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback to residents to facilitate their growth and development as family medicine practitioners.

Scholarly Activities:

  • Engage in research and scholarly pursuits related to family medicine or medical education per ACGME requirements.
  • Support and mentor residents in their research endeavors and quality improvement projects.

Administrative Duties:

  • Participate in program meetings, resident selection processes, and other administrative activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.

Community Engagement:

  • Collaborate with local healthcare facilities and community organizations to promote community health and enhance resident learning experiences.

Specific duties for Full Time Core Faculty are:

  • Direct patient care at Lowell CHC. site
    • 3-4 sessions/week (3-4 hours per session) on the master schedule
    • Continuity Patient Panel of 450-600 (based on 150 patients per session on master schedule)
  • Supervision of residents in patient care at Lowell CHC
    • 3-4 sessions/week (4 hours per session) of precepting on the master schedule
    • Supervision of residents for asynchronous care (phone calls, lab results, emails, communication with outside clinicians)
  • Advising and mentoring residents
  • Attend required faculty meeting and interdisciplinary team meetings
  • Complete all resident evaluations in a timely fashion
  • Faculty will be given 1 session (4 hours) per week to complete administrative tasks related to patient care and resident supervision. This session may be completed on-site or off-site.
  • Rounding on an inpatient hospital service (IM and/or OB) highly desirable

 

Requirements:

Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.

Board certification in Family Medicine.

Eligibility for medical licensure in MA and current valid license.

2 years of post-residency experience in clinical practice preferred.

Experience in medical education, preferably in a teaching health center or academic setting preferred.

Proven track record in teaching, mentoring, and working effectively with residents and learners is desirable.

Strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and continuous quality improvement.

Demonstrated engagement in scholarly activities (publications, presentations, research) related to family medicine or medical education is desirable.
