Job Description

Overview

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP) seeks Pediatric Palliative Care physician for one position at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor/Professor of Clinical Pediatrics/Physician Surgeon. The position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 1 year of Pediatric Fellowship and can be tenure or non-tenure. Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatrics and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and will hold or be eligible for an Illinois physician's license.

 

Position Summary

Providing care to patients with complex care needs. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and referring providers. Providing instruction to learners.

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Provide palliative medicine consultation and ongoing care to inpatients and patients in ambulatory settings.
  •  Facilitate communication between primary care teams and families.
  •  Have expertise in pain and symptom management.
  •  Provide end-of-life care to patients with complex care needs.
  •  Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and referring providers.
  •  Participate in Division’s educational efforts with nurse and physician trainees.
  •  Participate in research and quality improvement.
  •  Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • MD/DO or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois
  • 3 years Pediatric Residency and 1 years Pediatric Fellowship
  • BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine
