Genitourinary Medical Oncology – Clinical Faculty

Rush University Medical Center

Chicago, IL

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, and the teaching hospital for Rush Medical and Nursing Colleges, located in downtown Chicago, invites applications for the position of Genitourinary Medical Oncologist. The successful candidate will be board certified in medical oncology or hematology/oncology and has demonstrated interest and academic productivity in a field of urologic oncology.  The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with a growing multi-disciplinary urologic oncology program, participate in our large portfolio of clinical trials, and develop investigator-initiated trials. The predominant criteria include: a major commitment to research and scholarly activity that advances the field of medicine, teaching, excellence in clinical care, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

Genitourinary cancer treatment at Rush is a multi-disciplinary effort allowing providers to develop individualized treatment plans to optimally care for the patient. The GU cancer program has many active clinical trials including cancer therapeutics, radiation oncologic approaches, and novel urologic ablative technologies to provide advanced treatment options for patients and serve as a resource to the broader urologic oncology community for access to these therapies.

Our new, state-of-the-art Cancer Center facility in Chicago serves as a hub for services throughout our health system. Our core programs are supported by multi-disciplinary teams from hematology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, research and bioinformatics, clinical operations, and dedicated clinical and support staff, including patient navigators. This structure allows specialists to more easily consult and see patients based on tumor type or molecular and genomic signatures, combining our outstanding multidisciplinary approach with a data infrastructure that supports this patient-centered care. This integration enables us to make a greater commitment to research, dramatically scaling the effectiveness of clinical trials, and enabling translational research that moves bench to bedside, and bedside to bench.
