United Health Services is a family of health services organizations that exists to improve the health of the communities we serve by developing and maintaining a comprehensive and cost-effective health care system. We are a not-for-profit organization, operated for the public benefit.
Formed in 1981 through the consolidation of three community hospitals, United Health Services today has an annual budget of $677 million and employs more than 5,000 people. As a teaching hospital of Upstate Medical University, UHS trains over 70 physicians per year in residency and fellowship programs.
Each of the six member organizations that are part of United Health Services is owned by the community it serves, and each organization is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors composed of local citizens. The system’s member organizations are:
Teaching opportunities are available with the UHS Family Practice and Internal Medicine residents, Geriatrics and Sports Medicine fellows, transitional year students, as well as 3rd and 4th year medical students on rotation from Upstate Medical University.
