Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, has a full time opportunity for a BC/BE pediatric endocrinologist. This is an opportunity to concentrate primarily on clinical care in a hospital based setting.  Involvement in clinical research and teaching are not required but plentiful opportunities are available as are adjunct affiliations with local medical schools (TCU and UNT). Our endocrinology team, led by medical director, Dr. Paul Thornton, is comprised of 13 board certified pediatric endocrinologists, 5 advanced practice providers (4 certified pediatric nurse practitioners and 1 physician assistant), CDCES, psychologists, dieticians and social work.   One of the world's most respected congenital hyperinsulinism centers is right here at Cook Children's. The department also includes a world-renowned lipid clinic and a CAH comprehensive care center in addition to 7 other multispecialty clinics.  We have 3 health care system Endowed chairs.

Cook Children’s primary service region includes Collin, Denton, Hood, Johnson, Parker, Tarrant and Wise counties.  The primary service area includes a population of over 3M people and approximately 900,000 children under the age of 18.  The integrated system has more than 60 primary, specialty and urgent care offices throughout Texas and has served hundreds of international patients, as well as those from all 50 states.  Our endocrinologists provide patient care in 6 local and 3 regional clinics, and our new medical center in Prosper, Texas.

Qualifications: Candidates must be board certified/board eligible in pediatric endocrinology and eligible to secure an unrestricted Texas Medical License.

Medical Center Details:

  • 477 pediatric beds and treats infants, children, teens and young adult patients ages 0-21 throughout Texas, as well as nationally and internationally.
  • At nearly 1.6 million square feet, the campus serves as the main site of Cook Children’s Health Care System. This includes the medical center, Dodson specialty clinics and north and south inpatient towers.
  • In addition to the main Fort Worth campus, other Cook Children’s locations include multiple regional specialty clinics, urgent care centers, neighborhood clinics, primary care offices, surgery centers and home health offices.
  • In 2019, Cook Children’s expanded to provide services to families in Prosper, Texas and the surrounding communities.
  • To date, services offered include primary care, ambulatory surgery, urgent care, specialty care, imaging and outpatient laboratory services.
  • Cook Children's Prosper Medical Center and retail pharmacy opened January 2023.
