Pediatric- Behavioral/Therapeutics– We are seeking a Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrician to meet the relational, mental, behavioral, developmental and psychological needs of the children across West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Pediatric Cancer Research – We are seeking a new member of the TTUHSC School of Medicine Cancer Center Developmental Therapeutics Program whom will carry out laboratory research in the area of preclinical evaluation with models of childhood cancer solid tumors of investigational anti-neoplastic drugs.  The successful candidate is expected to carry out grant-funded preclinical testing of pediatric solid tumors; candidates interested in sarcomas are preferred.  The candidate will also be expected to develop and submit grants to support the laboratory research, and to provide limited teaching of medical students, graduate students, and clinical fellows. Pediatric Hematology/Oncology - We are seeing a board-certified or board-eligible pediatric hematologist/oncologist to join the division.  Optimal candidates will have experience in managing hematological disorders, including bleeding, clotting, platelet disorders and sickle cell disease. The candidate will help build the hematology service line and expand the faculty portfolio for the pediatric hematology oncology fellowship training program. The pediatric hematology oncology division includes four physicians, four lab scientists and two advanced practice providers. We have five research associates and have access to additional resources through the clinical research institute. We operate at two collaborating academic hospitals. Those are Covenant Children’s Hospital and UMC Children’s Hospital. This team is currently comprised of 11 pediatric hospital medicine physicians that provide coverage at 3 local hospitals, including 2 children’s hospitals and acts as the primary admitting team for many subspecialists in addition to co-managing patients with our surgical specialists. Pediatric Intensivist – We are seeking a Pediatric Intensivist to join the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. This position will join 3 other Intensivists and 2 Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Patient care includes attending to patients in the PICU, attending the Deep Sedation Service and consultation of critically-ill pediatric patients around the hospital. The PICU unit has an average daily census of five. The Burn ICU has an average daily pediatric census of one. The Deep Sedation Service has an average daily census of three. The UMC Children’s Hospital is a hospital within a hospital which has 24 beds on general pediatric floor, 42 beds in the Level 4 NICU and 15 beds in the PICU. UMC has a Level 1 Burn Unit where the intensivists provide expertise on mechanical ventilation and pain management for the pediatric burn patients and a Level 2 pediatric trauma center where the intensivists co-manage the patients. Newborn Hospitalist - We are seeking a Newborn Hospitalist to join our division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine comprised of 10 pediatric hospital medicine physicians. The position consists of clinical and teaching responsibilities in the newborn nursery at Covenant Children’s Hospital. This is an inpatient role managing a census of 8-12 newborns per-day. Requirement to perform circumcisions. No delivery attendance is required. NICU providers are available in the hospital at all times. The schedule is 7 days on/7 days off with allowance for flexibility. There are opportunities available for involvement in quality improvement, participation in an outpatient high-risk newborn follow-up clinic, and administrative activities. Learners including medical students, residents and PHM fellows rotate through the newborn nursery allowing for a spectrum of educational opportunities. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, a Texas medical license and be BE/BC in Pediatrics.
