Outpatient Cardiologist (M60442)

Noninvasive Outpatient Cardiologist – Williamsburg, VA (M60442)

VCU Health Pauley Heart Center – Department of Internal Medicine

VCU Health’s Pauley Heart Center is seeking a noninvasive outpatient cardiologist for its practice located in beautiful, historic Williamsburg, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be an experienced general cardiologist who is seeking a practice that will allow them to use the full spectrum of their clinical and teaching skills with oversight for cardiology diagnostic testing (including echo, stress echo, and CPET) to serve the approximately 100,000 residents of Virginia’s “Historical Triangle” region.

This position presents a cardiologist with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the region, while also leveraging the myriad resources available within an academic health system—that is, VCU Health, based in Richmond, Virginia. In 2021, the Pauley Heart Center began to offer clinical care in Williamsburg—located about 50 miles east of Richmond—thanks to the opening of a new VCU Health clinic adjacent to the campus of The College of William & Mary. The Pauley Heart Center is one of the preeminent heart centers in the U.S., and the successful candidate will join a team dedicated to both academic discovery and outstanding clinical care for its patients.

  • Board certified/board eligible cardiologist with demonstrated skills in cardiovascular disease
  • Clinically oriented
  • Possess sufficient research and teaching experience to be eligible for academic appointment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program
  • Will be expected to participate in teaching and fellowship programs
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Virginia
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Williamsburg, Virginia

Sitting on the James River in southeastern Virginia, Williamsburg (founded in 1632) along with nearby Yorktown and Jamestown (the first permanent English settlement in the Americas) form the “Historic Triangle.” Williamsburg is famous for its historic architecture, and residents and visitors alike can immerse themselves in colonial history while also enjoying modern conveniences. The town is home to The College of William & Mary—the second-oldest institution of higher education in the country—and residents can enjoy intellectual, civic, and cultural events organized by the college throughout the year. Music festivals, farmers’ markets, pub crawls, craft shows, 5Ks, and holiday events are also on offer in Williamsburg, with an abundant variety of restaurants, shops, and museums. There are many opportunities for outdoor recreation in the area as well—hiking, camping, boating, golfing, and visiting nearby Busch Gardens or Water Country USA.  Williamsburg is a great place to live, whether you are just beginning to raise a family, or are winding down your career. You will find fun, friends, and beauty in this vibrant community.
