North Country HealthCare (NCHC) is transforming healthcare for rural Arizonans. NCHC is a primary care, federally qualified health center with a teaching and learning mission. We practice an integrative care model in an innovative culture. These things allow us to provide coordinated health care across the Colorado plateau to some of the most vulnerable rural populations in the United States. We have clinics in 12 rural communities -- divided into an east, central, and western region -- throughout the northern half of Arizona. The DCMO position could be based in Flagstaff or in the region of oversight.
Through our care model, we are able to drive key quality and cost outcomes, which create value for patients, providers, and the overall health system. Our model allows us to practice medicine the way it should be practiced by fostering strong provider-patient, provider-provider, and provider-staff relationships, and delivering appropriate care in a "one-stop" model.
Duties of the DCMO are approximately divided to 60% administrative, 40% out-patient clinical. You will be able to continue as a practicing clinician in this role.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
Basic Qualifications:
A medical degree (MD, DO) is required with a specialty in IM, Urgent Care, Family Medicine, OB/GYN, or Pediatrics. Previous practice in a rural CHC, FQHC setting is preferred. Ideally, we would like to see a minimum of five years of clinical leadership responsibility at some level within a healthcare organization. If you are an innovative over-achiever who is passionate about helping people, serving one of the most diverse populations in the US, we are what you are looking for!
North Country HealthCare is the primary community health center in the area. In 1991, a small group of doctors and nurses, health and human service representatives and consumers worked together to establish the Flagstaff Community Free Clinic. In 1996, the clinic transitioned from a volunteer organization into a state and federally funded community health center. Today, North Country HealthCare serves 12 communities across northern Arizona, providing quality medical care to all while building healthier communities.
Flagstaff is in sunny Arizona, but it is NOT the hot desert! At an elevation of 7000 ft., the city has a true four-season climate with two ski resorts (downhill and cross country) within 15 miles of town. Outdoor recreation is a year-round passion for most residents and includes hiking, road and mountain biking, climbing, and water sports at nearby Lake Mary, Lake Powell, Oak Creek, and many other local spots. Flagstaff is within two hours of eight national parks. Flagstaff's running community is nationally famous and growing. Home to Northern Arizona University, Lowell Observatory (where Pluto was discovered!), Gore Technologies, and a United States Geological Survey campus, the sciences contribute to the diverse economy and personality of the community. The walkable historic downtown district offers eclectic but relaxed shopping and dining. With all this, plus a museum and arts of all types, you'd have to try to be bored in Flagstaff!
