The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Gastroenterologist/ Hepatologist to join the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. Academic rank track commensurate with academic record and experience.

Position Overview

The Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition is seeking highly skilled and compassionate Gastroenterologists to join our dynamic team. This role requires dedicated physicians who can manage a variety of responsibilities ranging from direct patient care to educational and research activities within the gastroenterology specialty. The candidates should be committed to improving patient outcomes and advancing the field through continuous learning and quality improvement efforts.

In recent years, the Division has experienced remarkable growth in its faculty, facilities, and research capabilities. With over $4.5 million in research funding, sourced from both national grants and industry activities, we are at the forefront of medical research and discovery.

Our Gastroenterology Fellowship Program provides excellent education to future gastroenterologists in the field. Our program annually welcomes six outstanding trainees. These trainees are immersed in an environment of unparalleled education and mentorship, preparing them to become the future leaders in gastroenterology.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide exemplary direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures with precision and empathy.
  • Engage in mentorship and educational activities, shaping the future of gastroenterology by imparting knowledge to medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and contribute to comprehensive care plans.
  • Lead and collaborate on clinical and translational research projects, contributing to the advancement of evidence-based practices in gastroenterology.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field.
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and optimizing clinical operations

Requirements
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Internal Medicine required; active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) required. Completion of an accredited residency in internal medicine and a fellowship training program in gastroenterology or hepatology required.
