As a Preventive Medicine Officer, you’ll supervise and provide direct patient care, recommend methods to improve overall wellness, and implement various programs to maintain health, improve fitness, and prevent disease or injury. You’ll also conduct medical research and participate in the education and training of medical students and personnel as part of the Army’s robust and reliable medical system.
Active Duty (Full-Time)
- Loan Repayment: $120,000 in student loan repayment in $40,000 annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Active Duty Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (ADHPLRP).
- Sign-on Bonus: $300,000 signing bonus for 4 years of service.
- Incentive Pay: $43,000 paid annually for each successful year of service. $8,000 additional annual bonus as long as board certification maintained.
- Location: Over 40 locations stateside and several more overseas, including Hawaii, Alaska, Italy, Germany, and Korea.

Army Reserve (Part-Time - 38 days a year)
- Loan Repayment: $250,000 in student loan repayment in $40,000 annual payments to qualifying federal student loans paid directly to the lending institution through the Health Professions Loan Repayment Program (HPLRP).
- Sign-on Bonus: $25,000 annual signing bonus for 2, 3, or 4 years of service.
- Incentive Pay: $43,000 additional pay for each successful year of service. Must have completed residency program in your specialty. $8,000 additional annual bonus as long as board certification maintained.
- Location: Continue your civilian occupation serving time at a local unit within 50 miles of your location. Transition to different locations as needed.
