Our Department of Neurology provides state of the art comprehensive patient centered neurological care for adults and children, performing translational and clinical research to further understand disease mechanisms and develop new treatments, training the next generation of neurologists and clinical neuroscientists.  The Department of Neurology is committed to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students.  Department faculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and our community.


We're seeking a full-time faculty member to join our expanding clinical and research enterprises in the Division of Epilepsy.  This position will provide patient care, engage in medical student and neurology resident and fellow education, and participate in clinical research.

Position Responsibilities: 
1. Clinical
Primary clinical responsibilities include care of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with an emphasis on Epilepsy.
2. Teaching
Faculty member will teach medical students and housestaff.  They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and students emphasizing issues in Epilepsy.  They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested.
3. Research
The Division of Epilepsy is engaged in clinical and translation research projects.  The faculty member will be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trails.
4. Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer, conference organizer, etc.

Required Qualifications: 

  • BC/BE in Neurology
  • Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology with an emphasis on Epilepsy
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an Epilepsy fellowship
