The Division of Cardiac Surgery is currently in the process of recruiting a mid-career, full-time cardiac surgeon to join its rapidly expanding group practice. This is an exceptional opportunity to work at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Steward Healthcare System’s tertiary care center, in Boston, MA. Currently, the Division of Cardiac Surgery offers a full array of services, including aortic dissection surgery, minimally invasive aortic/mitral valve repair, ascending and aortic arch aneurysm repair, coronary artery bypass, surgical ventricular restoration/ventricular aneurysm repair, valve replacement (including TAVR), valve sparing aortic root replacement, and atrial fibrillation ablation. From a clinical quality standpoint, the Division of Cardiac Surgery has the strongest clinical quality metrics as reported by STS and Healthgrades; and prides itself on providing personalized and professional clinical service. St. Elizabeth’s is a teaching hospital and has academic affiliation with Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine, where staff members can obtain faculty rank.

The new state of the art ICU, step down unit and operating rooms designed specifically for Cardiac Surgery add to both the surgeon and patient experience at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. A team of experienced physician assistants and nurse practitioners support our current cardiac surgeons. The Division of Cardiac Surgery collaborates consistently with other strong clinical departments throughout St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center including Cardiology, Thoracic Surgery, and Vascular Surgery. Competitive candidates must be BE/BC by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, be in possession or qualified to obtain MA medical licensure and have 10 to 15 years of independent experience in adult cardiac surgery, comfortable in working in a team environment, providing excellent patient experience, with superb clinical outcome and the capacity to take call and operate independently on emergency cases.
